Getting rid of an old down duvet? How down recycling works

A good down duvet stays with you for many years. When it has had its day, the down and feathers inside are often still valuable. That is why we take back old down duvets and down pillows, including those from other brands, and give the materials a second life.

Why down is too good to throw away

Down and feathers are natural materials. They are a by-product of meat production and gain an additional purpose in bedding. With good care, they keep their shape for a long time. And even when the casing of a duvet is worn, the down and feathers inside can often still be cleaned and reused.

How recycling works at Marso Living

1. Register for recycling: send us an email at info@marsoliving.com with the subject “Recycling”. We will send you a return label. You organise a suitable shipping box yourself.
2. Pack and send: pack your down duvet or down pillow in a box and take the parcel to your nearest post office. There is no need to wash or prepare your bedding in any special way.
3. We take care of the rest: as soon as your bedding has arrived, we open it and prepare the reusable down and feathers for their next use.

What happens to your old duvet

We open the bedding, separate the individual components and have the reusable down and feathers professionally cleaned. This way, valuable materials can be used again instead of ending up as waste.

What we accept and what we do not

• We accept: down duvets and down pillows, from Marso Living or other brands.
• We cannot accept: bed linen, towels, synthetic bedding, or heavily soiled or damaged items.

Responsibility starts with the purchase

For our down products we use DOWNPASS-certified down and feathers from controlled and traceable supply chains. Every sealed down product carries an individual test number. Our down duvet is made in Switzerland and is also OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified. You can read more about our approach on our sustainability page.

Can I also return a duvet from another brand?

Yes. We take back down duvets and down pillows regardless of the brand.

Do I need to wash my old duvet first?

No. The bedding does not need to be washed or specially prepared.
