Guest towel, hand towel, bath towel: the names are familiar, the dimensions less so. Which towel is meant for what, and how many do you need? In this guide you will find the answers at a glance.

The sizes at a glance

Our towels come in these sizes:

TowelSizeWhat for
Guest towel30 × 30 cmDrying hands at the washbasin, for guests or instead of a washcloth
Hand towel50 × 90 cmHands and face, for your hair after washing
Bath towel70 × 140 cmDrying your body after a shower or bath
Bath mat50 × 80 cmIn front of the shower or bathtub, keeps the floor dry

These dimensions apply to our Premium Towels and to our Classic Towels.

For the little ones there is also the Baby Hooded Towel in 80 × 80 cm. It has a hood and comes with a matching baby washcloth in the same colour.

How many per person?

There is no fixed rule. As a guide, this set-up per person has proven useful:

  • 2 bath towels
  • 2 hand towels
  • 1 to 2 guest towels

With two of each size, one is always in use while the other is being washed. Add one bath mat per bathroom, or two for a family.

A separate set for guests is worthwhile. A guest towel at the washbasin is a small gesture. For overnight guests, also put out a hand towel and a bath towel.

For families

With children, a separate colour per person is worthwhile. That way each family member knows straight away which towel is theirs. Our Premium Towels come in four colours, which makes this easy.

Anyone who does a lot of sport or often goes swimming will often need an extra bath towel. In that case, plan for a third bath towel.

How often to change?

Towels should be able to dry well after use. Hang them up spread out, not folded. That way they are ready again next time. How often you wash them depends on how often they are used.

Premium or Classic?

Both lines are made of cotton terry and are woven in Portugal. Both are OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified. They differ in style: the Premium Towels are especially densely woven, the Classic Towels have a decorative border.

Premium Towels

Our Premium Towels are soft, densely woven and especially absorbent. The terry weighs 600 g/m² and becomes softer with every wash. You will find them in Mineral, Natural Beige, White and Dark Grey. The line includes the Premium Guest Towel, the Premium Hand Towel, the Premium Bath Towel and the Premium Bath Mat.

Classic Towels

Our Classic Towels made of 100 % cotton have a traditional decorative border. They are soft, absorbent and timeless. They are available as a guest towel, hand towel, bath towel and bath mat, or in the Starter Set.

You will find all styles in the Towels collection.

The right set

If you want several sizes in one colour, a set is practical. The Premium Towel Set contains:

  • 1 Premium Guest Towel, 30 × 30 cm
  • 1 Premium Hand Towel, 50 × 90 cm
  • 1 Premium Bath Towel, 70 × 140 cm

All three pieces are the same colour. In the set you save 10 % compared with buying the items individually. With the Classic Towels, too, you save with the Starter Set compared with buying individually. You will find all sets under Towel Sets.

For one person with the set-up described above, two sets are a good start. Add the bath mat separately.

Towels also make a lovely gift, for example for a new home or a wedding. A set in a calm colour such as Natural Beige or White suits many bathrooms.

Care at 60 °C

Towels are in use every day and can be washed warm. This is how to care for them:

  • Wash at 60 °C with a little mild liquid detergent.
  • Avoid fabric softener. It coats the fibres like a fine film, and the towels absorb less moisture.
  • Wash light and dark colours separately.
  • Tumble dry at a medium temperature. This makes the fibres soft even without fabric softener.

You can read more tips in the article How to make your towels last longer and on our Product Care page.

Frequently asked questions

How big is a bath towel?

Our bath towel measures 70 × 140 cm, for the Premium Towels as well as for the Classic Towels.

What is the difference between a guest towel and a hand towel?

At 30 × 30 cm, the guest towel is much smaller and is good for drying hands. The hand towel measures 50 × 90 cm.

Where are the towels made?

Our towels are woven in Portugal.

Can I use fabric softener?

We advise against it. Fabric softener coats the fibres, and the towels absorb less moisture.
