At some point the sleeping bag gets too small, or your child wants a “real” duvet like the grown-ups. Then the question of the first duvet and the first pillow comes up. Which size fits, and what should you look for in the filling?

Since September 2026, Marso Living has its own Junior Bedding. In this guide we introduce it to you.

From sleeping bag to first duvet

In the first months of life, babies usually sleep in a sleeping bag. When your child can sleep with a duvet and pillow is a question best discussed with your paediatrician. They know your child and can advise you individually.

A few simple observations help with the transition: does your child already sleep in their own bed? Do they often kick off their covers? Do they ask for a duvet themselves? These are good reasons for a conversation at the practice.

For outings, the pram or the nursery there is our Baby Blanket. It measures 70 × 80 cm and is made of 90 % cotton and 10 % cashmere. It is knitted in Portugal.

Junior sizes at a glance

Our Junior bedding comes in one size each:

When your child later moves to a bigger bed, our adult sizes will fit. Read more in the guide Duvet sizes in Switzerland. For pillows there are then three formats, explained in our guide Pillow sizes in Switzerland.

Down or synthetic for children

Both fillings have their advantages. The choice depends on what matters to you.

Junior down

The Junior Down Duvet is filled with 90 % white European duck down and 10 % fine duck feathers. The casing is made of 100 % cotton. Special quilting keeps the filling evenly distributed. The Junior Down Pillow has a filling of 80 % fine duck feathers and 20 % duck down.

The down and feathers come from ethically sound sources and are DOWNPASS certified. Our down products come with a 5-year guarantee.

Junior synthetic

The Junior Synthetic Duvet and the Junior Synthetic Pillow are filled with fine micro-polyester flakes. They are down-free and easy to care for. The casing is made of 100 % cotton. Our synthetic products come with a 2-year guarantee.

If an allergy is known in your family, our guide Duvets and house dust allergy helps with the first questions. The assessment itself belongs at the paediatrician's.

Care in everyday family life

With children, a cup of milk or a piece of bread sometimes ends up in bed. That is why you can wash all Junior bedding at home:

  • Junior Down Duvet and Junior Down Pillow: at a maximum of 60 °C on a gentle cycle.
  • Junior Synthetic Duvet and Junior Synthetic Pillow: at a maximum of 40 °C on a gentle cycle.
  • Baby Blanket: by hand or at a maximum of 30 °C on a wool cycle. Pull into shape and dry flat.

Use a little mild liquid detergent and no fabric softener. Dry duvets and pillows completely at a low temperature in the tumble dryer, ideally with dryer balls. Shake them from time to time.

An everyday tip: if you have two covers, one can be washed while the other is in use.

Setting up the child's bed

A child's bed does not need much. A duvet, a pillow and a suitable base are enough. Make sure the duvet matches the size of the bed and does not hang over the edge onto the floor.

Let your child help choose the colour of the bed linen. That way the new duvet quickly becomes their own. And for younger children the same applies: what belongs in the bed is best discussed with your paediatrician.

Shake the duvet and pillow briefly in the morning and let the bed air while your child has breakfast. This keeps the filling airy.

Junior sets

To get started, duvet and pillow are also available together:

In a set you save 10 % compared with buying the items individually. Our duvets and pillows are made in Switzerland after you order. Production takes 2–4 working days, followed by delivery in 3–5 working days.
