In summer your duvet feels too warm, in winter you would like more fullness? The season is a good starting point for your choice. Even more important, though, are the temperature in your bedroom and how warm you personally feel. A well-heated room in January may call for a different duvet than a cool bedroom in September.

Light or medium-warm: what does this mean at Marso Living?

Our down duvets and synthetic duvets are available in two warmth levels. "Light" is the airier choice for people who get warm quickly at night. "Medium-warm" offers more warmth and can be used all year round in a suitably heated bedroom.

Warmth descriptions are not the same for all brands. That is why you should go by the description of the specific product and not compare categories from different manufacturers by their name alone.

Many manufacturers talk about warmth classes 1 to 5 or about four-season duvets. At Marso Living the two warmth levels are called Light and Medium-warm.

A duvet for summer

If your bedroom heats up more in the warm months, a light duvet can make sense. You choose the fabric of the cover according to your preferences: linen with its natural texture or cotton sateen with its fine sheen. New bed linen alone does not make up for a filling that is too warm.

Also consider whether you still need extra blankets on the bed. Fewer layers make it easier to respond to the actual temperature in your room.

A duvet for autumn and spring

In the transitional seasons, warm and cool nights alternate. A flexible combination helps here: your usual cover, a suitable warmth level and, if needed, an extra blanket that you can easily put aside, such as one of our throws at the foot of the bed. If you feel cold easily, you may be comfortable with medium-warm early on. If you tend to sleep warm, you will often stay with light for longer.

A duvet for winter

For a cool bedroom and people who feel cold easily, a medium-warm duvet is one possible choice. If your room is well heated or you produce a lot of warmth at night, the light version can suit you in winter too. A particularly thick duvet is not automatically the better solution.

Your situation Possible starting point
You get warm quickly at night Light, regardless of the month
Warm summer nights Light and fewer extra layers
Cool room, you tend to feel cold Medium-warm
Different warmth needs as a couple Two duvets with individually chosen warmth levels

Does an all-year duvet make sense?

Yes, if it suits your room temperature and how warm you feel throughout the year. "All-year" is no promise that a single duvet is right in every setting. Some people use a medium-warm model all year, others switch between two versions.

We offer down and synthetic in both warmth levels. Which filling you prefer is therefore a separate decision. Our comparison of down and synthetic will help you.

Adapting your bedroom to the season

It is not only the duvet that can change with the season. As a rule, you can keep your pillow the same all year round. In spring and summer, light-coloured bed linen, for example in white, looks light and fresh. In autumn and winter, warm beige and sand tones bring calm to the bedroom.

Storing your duvet when the season changes

Before a duvet is put away for a few months, it should be clean and completely dry. Store it in a dry place with enough space and avoid compressing it strongly for long periods. Follow our care instructions: down max. 60 °C, synthetic max. 40 °C, each on a delicate cycle.

Discover our duvets in light and medium-warm and choose according to your nights, not just the calendar.
